I'm pleased to bring you a great interview with Katabasys! So sit back and get cozy as we get to know a little bit more about this wonderful etsy seller!! I am so excited and I hope you are too.

What is your art or craft and how long have you been creating?
Ever since I walked into Beadniks on Martha's Vineyard when I was 10 or 11, I was hooked on jewelry. For a long time I made stuff for friends and family, but my mom finally begged me to start selling my jewelry instead of making it for free! It is always exciting for me to get compliments from complete strangers when I decided to wear something I made.

My other craft is photography. This is a new thing for me. I never really took lessons except for an intro art class in high school. Photography became a love when I went to Europe first when I was 15 to Austria and then later in college I took a class in Italy. I don't know if it is the grandeur of older buildings or the care it took to build and decorate them, but I love taking pictures of older architecture. It is something I love so much. It also helps that when I was little my mother went back to school for interior design so architecture books were strewn throughout the house.

What other things do you do besides creating?
In my spare time I play tennis, study Roman architecture, and work in a biochemistry laboratory.

What inspires you?
Architecture of buildings definitely inspires my photography as I have mentioned. But for my jewelry both nature and the textures/cuts of the beads themselves. I am getting really excited to work with bronze and copper metals on top of the usually gold and silver. I think it can add a lot to a piece and allow you to be more creative.

Are there any artists that inspire you?
Raven of Molecularmuse.etsy.com is a scientist turned artist and her work is amazing. I am really hoping to get one of her necklaces for a graduation present to myself!

My mom is a big one. Without her I wouldn't have gotten into jewelry or photography! She herself is a wonderful artist and even started making her own jewelry.

What are five words that describe you?
Nerdy, Fun, Sporty, Hands-on, Creative
